A journey into prehistory through Augmented Reality

The five shelters containing the first paintings of mankind in the area of Santiago-Pontones (Jaén), can now be visited from anywhere thanks to the most advanced equipment on the market and field work carried out with tools such as the 3D laser scanner, RTC from Leica Geosystems. It has been possible to take spherical photographs and scan each of the five shelters in the area of the Santiago-Pontones rock paintings. Thanks to their high quality, they offer a detailed view to enrich the virtual experience.

With a previous 3D scanning of the five shelters: Abrigo de Río Frío I, Abrigo Cañada de la Cruz, Cueva del Nacimiento and Cuevas del Engarbo I and II, and subsequent digitisation of the shelters, it has been possible to develop the 3D version of the caves in interactive 360º view.

A unique opportunity to relive first-hand the history of this municipality, through the Augmented Reality experience and from your own mobile device, computer or tablet. Enjoy the cultural legacy of the tourist heritage of the municipality of Santiago-Pontones.
